A former New Yorker (but always a city girl) now living in Calgary, Canada. I find great pleasure baking and creating recipes to share with friends and family. As an avid reader, you will find me most nights going through cook books seeking out my next recipe to try. I am a former president of the Calgary Sugarcraft Guild and love anything to do with cake decorating. My other passion is music, and I followed The Grateful Dead around the globe for 20 years (how I met my husband) and in my other life I worked in the music industry at various record companies.

Hi Sandie,
I’m wondering if you can tell me where I can purchase Dutch Process cocoa here in Calgary? I’ve tried a few of the major grocery stores but so far haven’t had any luck. Thanks in advance for your help!
Heather
Heather,
In Calgary you can get dutch process cocoa from Costco. The brand is Rodelle and its a really good deal as well; its in the baking aisle with the nuts and spices. I think it is a very good cocoa. There are also the brands Droste and Fry’s ,which you can get at Superstore.
thanks for stopping by!
I never realized you were in Canada! I’m in Ottawa.
Hey San,
I want ot make black and white cookies for the SuperBowl but want the black to be navy. The receipe calls for w hite icing to be used on half the cookie and the other half takes cocoa in the same icing for flavor and color. Any suggestions on how I can accomplish this? I went to NY Cake Baking but they didn’t have navy chips, saw white and can always add food coloring. Help, tomorrow is Wednesday and I am running out of time.
Love to your peeps.
Lisa
I called and spoke to Scott last night. Just make the icing all white, split it equally, and add a few drops of navy food coloring to it. NY cake will have a brand called Americolor; just get a small bottle of it as you will only need a few drops
Would you believe this is the first time I’ve been to your about page? You are beautiful! Gorgeous hair – everything! That said, I was looking for your email to contact you with a request
